This news flash from the staff at the Bowdoin College Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum, which is opening a new exhibit, Kajak!
"Internationally recognized kayak expert (and QajaqUSA member) Harvey Golden will discuss the history of the Inuit kayak and the amazing diversity of kayak styles developed by Inuit from Siberia to Greenland.

Harvey Golden has traveled to museums across Europe and North America documenting historic kayaks and constructing precise, full-size replicas – over 75 to date. He established the Lincoln Street Kayak and Canoe Museum, in Portland, Oregon, to house and display his replicas, and is the author of Kayaks of Greenland, and Kayaks of Alaska. His work is documented on his website (https://www.traditionalkayaks.com/), including photographs of many of his replicas in use.
