Founded in 2002, Qajaq TC (Training Camp) is an Official Qajaq USA event. It takes place at Camp Lookout, near Frankfort, Michigan. There is no road access to the camp. Our only access is by kayak or pontoon boat, making this a true full-immersion Traditional Greenland Kayaking event. With only around sixty attendees and a very high mentor-to-student ratio, instruction is flexible and focused on helping everyone succeed, whether you have never been in a kayak before, or have decades of experience. With the exception of youth scholarship attendees, this event is intended for adults.

The Traditional Paddlers Gathering is the product of a shared obsession. We’re northern paddlers who have fallen for the subtlety and brilliance of Greenland-style paddling techniques and equipment. Most of us have splashed at the water for hour upon hour and year after year as we’ve attempted to master some portion of the repertoire of Greenland rolls. Others have carved traditional paddles, built Greenland-style boats, or made tuiliks (the combination paddling garment and sprayskirt). Some of us have made harpoons and, to the befuddlement of onlookers, practiced chucking them at imaginary seals.

We are super excited to announce we‘ve found a wonderful new venue for the Hudson River Greenland Festival! We are relocating HRGF to Fahnestock State Park, 20 miles north of our previous location in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. HRGF will have the entire facility to ourselves! It‘s up in the hills, 10 miles east of Cold Spring, NY. We will have a small lake to ourselves with an expansive beach, and a 15 minute drive to the mighty Hudson. The HRGF team is working hard on crunching the numbers and working out the details. Stay tuned, more to come! The Hudson River Greenland Festival Team
