Qajaq USA Board Members

Fred Randall shifted from kayaks to qajaqs in 2006, starting with a building course from Brian Schultz and his introduction to Harvey's “Book” (Kayaks of Greenland). He has devoted his efforts since then to learning about these craft and how they came to be. In that effort he has built well over 20 replicas, paddling them extensively and learning by experiencing their behavioral qualities. He has also taken advantage of the resources of Bowdoin College, auditing courses in Arctic studies and taking full advantage of the library, that has a superb collection of Arctic literature. Fred's building and use of a Greenland paddle precedes his shift to Qajaqs by several years, going back to a how-to-talk, given by Keith Attenborough.
